Older People's Strategy Group

Later life should be a time of opportunity, not vulnerability, and there is commitment within Poole to the provision of high quality, relevant and accessible services that are informed by older people within our communities.

The Older Peoples’ Services Steering Group brings together people from a range of backgrounds and agencies, and encourages them to work together to improve the quality of life of older people. It is led by an independent older person Chair, and includes local older residents, representatives of older people’s organisations’ and the Borough’s Older People’s Champion within its membership

The role of the Group is to focus on the contributions, aspirations and needs of older people (usually defined as those over retirement age) in Poole. It guides the development of strategies and actions that will address the requirements of a large increase in the older population over the next twenty years.

In particular, the Group oversees the direction and delivery of ‘A Time of Our Lives’, Poole’s Older People Strategy 2008-2013.

The Group meets four times a year, at the Civic Centre in Poole.
