About this Consultation

‘Investing in Green Places’ is a draft strategy for the planning of ‘green infrastructure’ in South East Dorset.

Green infrastructure refers to the wider environment and its ability to provide a range of economic, social and cultural benefits. It includes parks, woodland, allotments, cycle routes and other spaces that help underpin our health, well-being and quality of life.

The draft strategy has been put together by the six local councils in SE Dorset, the Environment Agency, Natural England and the Forestry Commission. It aims to co-ordinate the planning of green infrastructure to improve and make best use of our existing assets in the most cost effective way.
