Books

Effective Fundraising  by Luke Fitzherbert. Published by DSC in 2003 at £9.95 is a quick and easy starter guide written by someone with many years of experience. 85 pages.

The Complete Fundraising Handbook by Nina Botting and Michael Norton. 4th edition published by DSC in 2001. This is the bible for fundraising professionals, but at 350 pages long may be a bit too much for some. £16.95.

Writing Better Fundraising Applications by Mike Eastwood and Michael Norton. 3rd edition published by DSC in 2002. 138 pages of good advice. £14.95.

Tried and tested ideas for local fundraising events by Sarah Passingham. 3rd edition published by DSC in 2003. 272 pages. £14.95.

Databases

There are books listing Trusts who give money, but these inevitably go out of date very quickly, so you are better accessing on-line information. See Funderfinder, Grantfinder and Trustfunding on the list of websites

Magazines

Funding for change is published quarterly by the Directory of Social Change at £40 p.a.

Poole Council for Voluntary Service holds some books and magazines on fundraising which can be seen at their offices.

Poole Central Library also holds some titles.
