Safer Poole Partnership

Tackling crime and substance abuse and promoting a better sense of belonging in order to make people feel safer is the job of Safer Poole Partnership which brings together the Police, Fire Service, Borough of Poole, NHS and around 50 other organisations.

For the past five years, the partnership has worked to listen and respond to communities, identify the causes of problems, take preventative action, respond to crime and anti-social behaviour and build a stronger sense of community involvement.

Every year, Safer Poole Partnership is required by the Government to produce an annual strategic assessment. This document enables it to identify trends and hotspots and work out how to best prevent and reduce crime. As a result of this, and consulting the public, the partnership is focusing on five priorities this year:
  • supporting and safeguarding vulnerable victims
  • public confidence and communication
  • tackling acquisitive crime (such as burglary and vehicle crime)
  • offender management
  • combating alcohol misuse.

It has also highlighted four areas of Poole with the highest needs:

  • Alderney
  • Hamworthy West
  • Newtown
  • Poole town.
