| What we do |
All Saints' Church was built in 1877 as the focal point of the new community growing up in the estate to be known as the Parish of Branksome Park.God has been worshipped here since then, week by week, and people have come to faith in Christ through the preaching and witness of Christian people living here.Today, we are a community of people following the Lord Jesus Christ and aim to grow the quality of our Christian Life together. Everyone is welcome to join in our Sunday worship or many other activities, regardless of how certain they are of what they believe. Here is a digest of our activities. For children and teens. We have a full range of activities for children and young people, organised by our full time Children and Young People's leader, John Parrett 741089. We have Beavers, Cubs, Brownies, ASK and ASK+ and activities during Family Service on Sundays at 9.30am. For young families. There is all age worship on Sundays, every week, at 9.30am, with provision of a creche (up to 36 months), activities for children and lively and engaging worship. Teddy Bears meet on Monday afternoons and there is a morning sessional Christian Nursery School daily. The Church is always happy to celebrate the birth of a new child and to welcome it through Baptism. For women. Mothers make use of Teddy Bears, our "tots" group. There is an active Mother's Union with an excellent programme meeting monthly. For men. Men have a special group which meets about six times a year to apply faith to life at work and home. For those wanting to pray or find a place of quiet. The Church is open during daylight hours every day for prayer and reflection. Public prayers are led Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.00am. For those wanting to explore the Christian Faith or deepen their own faith. A special course for this starts each year in October. There are regular housegroups and study groups throughout the year meeting on a variety of days and times. There must be one that suits you somewhere! For the lonely, or house bound. Visits can be made by trained lay pastors. Holy Communion can be brought to the housebound, and those who would like to take tea together can do so at our monthly Tea Party in our lovely hall on the second Wednesday of each month. Transport can be arranged. For the perplexed. Life is not always straightforward, is it? But one person it never got down, despite the most adverse of circumstances, was Jesus of Nazareth. The Christian Faith is about him and it is about living life to the full, not about being religious. He could touch your perplexity, too! The church staff can help. For those thinking of marriage. The Vicar is always happy to meet people thinking of marriage. "Marriage Matters" our very popular course is available to all. For the sick. The Vicar, or a lay Pastor, will visit the sick, at home or in hospital, if advised. The Sick are prayed for regularly in public worship, or more discreetly in the Prayer Group. On the fourth Sunday of the month the evening service is especially devoted to praying for the sick. Anyone may come and may request prayer during the course of the short service. For Prayer. Confidential requests can be made for prayer help using the slips in the church porch. In sadness. The Vicar and his team of bereavement helpers are always ready to support people in mourning. This support, and funerals services, are available to all parishioners whether or not they held firm belief or have been attending the Church. For none of the above. Most people are neither young nor old, neither marrying nor giving birth, they are neither sick nor dying. Half of us aren't perplexed and the other half haven't time to think! We are just us; I hesitate to say "ordinary" but that is about the sum total of it. God is still interested in us, even if we have not yet had much interest in him. At All Saints' we can tell you how we know this amazing fact, and what to do about it. We are your Parish Church and we are here for you.
